The Late Seventies at CUC: It was a time of big hair, big lapels and ties, platforms and big heels. It was also a time for tight harmonies and the unmistakable melodies of 1970's gospel music. Being far from home and home churches, many students at Adventist colleges had to create a supportive environment for themselves to hold on to their faith and personal identity. Scattered throughout a student body steeped in a folk culture, some students found a way, through culturally relevant music and fellowship, to pull together and draw strength and encouragement from each other and God that enabled them to press on.
